In 2001 with the formation of Chhattisgarh State the institute was started with commerce subject as one of the streams, to provide opportunities for the development of commercial skills and capabilities to girls. Till 2005 up to graduation level education was available as B.Com with all compulsory subjects and B.Com with additional subjects Computer in institute with 100 seats. Because of location, teaching, result, curricular activities and co-curricular activities demand for Post-Graduation education in commerce stream became prominent. To cater the needs of students post-graduation study in Department of Commerce was started in 2005 as M.Com with 30 seats. The main objective of commerce department to make students acquainted with subjects like economics, accountancy, finance, business mathematics, book keeping etc.
